OnePlus 9 Series Launch Event

One of the most awaited events in recent times was the official launch of the OnePlus 9 Series that successfully took place in a grand manner on the 23rd of March 2021. Journey of OnePlus

The founder, CEO, and Chief Product Officer of OnePlus, Mr Pete Lau, kickstarted the event with a warm welcome to all the OnePlus fans. He began by thanking everyone for having such an unbreakable faith in OnePlus. He also shared insights on the company’s journey in bringing the OnePlus experience to more users around the world.

To fulfil the brand’s motive to make the best devices possible OnePlus builds smartphones with the best hand feel, powerful performance, fastest charging, and the best displays. Though it produces the best handsets, most users’ suggest a better camera when considering an area for improvement and innovation.

Finally, he introduced the eagerly anticipated OnePlus 9 Series of smartphones. It would set the bar for the best combination of hardware – software and the biggest leap forward in camera quality. Yes, OnePlus has formulated a partnership with legendary camera company – Hasselblad to bring out the best in camera quality.

Partnership with Hasselblad

Hasselblad is a camera company with 8- years of experience and has also played a part in capturing some of the most iconic moments in history. The brand is very much popular among professional photographers. Together with Hasselblad, OnePlus has enhanced the image colour and sensor calibration. The sensor and optics of the camera are advanced in terms of the hardware.

Mr.Jon Diele, Vice President of Hasselblad, also addressed the event to share his experience with OnePlus. He begins by talking about the history of Hasselblad that started in 1941. Their motto is “Create To Inspire.” He also shared the proudest moment of Hasselblad in capturing the first step on the moon. Hasselblad has some of the highest quality cameras that enable you to capture your artistic vision in its purest form.

The camera system of the OnePlus combined with Hasselblad offers the most advanced technology in mobile photography with natural colour calibration and accurate natural colour. To know more about the professional photographers’ experience, OnePlus has also worked with a few of Hasselblads ambassadors. They are a crew of 12 professional photographers. The event also showcased the experience of the team.

OnePlus 9 Pro

Later the event was carried on by Ryan Fenwick, head of corporate communication. He gave us all the detailed information about the OnePlus 9 Pro. It has the largest 50MP sensor on the ultra-wide camera that results in better imaging quality and lower noise. It has a 320% larger sensor, larger than the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s primary camera. It also has a primary camera with a custom 48 MP Sony IMX789 sensor.

The device is built with beautiful colours, premium materials and has an elegant finish. The OnePlus 9 Pro comes with an overall curved design with a 2.2 mm thin aluminium frame making the device very comfortable to hold. It is available in three different colours: Morning Mist, Pine Green, and Stellar Black. The curved glass panel used on the device makes it look slim.

The OnePlus 9 Pro comes with a 120 Hz Fluid Display 2.0 with the LTPO technology as well as hyper touch technology. The LTPO contributes to 50% less power consumption and a much faster response time with a syncing speed that is 6 times faster.

Mr.Tilen Pigac, Head of Campaigns, then came to explain more about the device’s performance. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 with a 5nm chipset offering 25% faster CPU and 35% faster GPU performance. It has a 5G built-in modem and also has the next generation LPDDR5 RAM. It supports connectivity through Bluetooth 5.2 and WiFi 6, resulting in faster downloads and faster connectivity. It also has a 4500 mAh battery.

OnePlus 9

The next introduction was the OnePlus 9 that has a flat display. The display itself is redesigned for those who love flat displays but has major breakthroughs taken from the OnePlus 9 Pro, including the powerful Hasselblad camera system and a 120 Hz refresh rate. It has a flexible OLED display with a fantastic video resolution.

It has a curve on the back and the frame, which gives it a very comfortable hand feel. The central frame of the device comes with a fibreglass reinforced polymer. The device is available in three different colours: Winter Mist, Astral Black, and Arctic Sky. The ultra-wide camera of OnePLus 9 and 9 Pro are the same. The OnePlus 9 has a 48MP main camera. The processor and battery of the OnePlus 9 Pro and OnePlus 9 are also the same.

OnePlus Smartwatch

The launch event had a hidden surprise for all of us. Mr.Vita Hsu, the Design Lead, was the one who disclosed the surprise. He introduced the OnePlus Watch. It comes with a minimal design having a sleek frame with two buttons on the side. The watch uses 316L stainless steel for amazing durability.

The OnePlus watch is available 46mm in size and two attractive colours: Moonlight Silver and Midnight Black. The smartwatch looks stunning with Cobalt alloy that is twice as hard as stainless steel. It uses a Sapphire glass to make it look more classy and virtually scratch-resistant. It comes with a 1.39″ AMOLED display, with more than 50 watch faces to choose from.

The device lets you answer phone calls, check messages, and view notifications. Generally, smartwatches connect with smartphones, but the OnePlus smartwatch connects seamlessly with the OnePlus TV and acts as a remote controller. The price of the OnePlus Smartwatch is Rs.16,999.

OnePlus 9R

The OnePlus 9 series does not stop with two flagships; it has another addition to the family called OnePlua 9R. It has beautiful back curves and corners that are comfortable to use. The device is available in two colours: Lake Blue and Carbon Black. The OnePlus 9R uses a custom made flexible OLED panel for the display with a 120 Hz high refresh rate. It is to be noted that the display is specially made for gaming as it provides a 240Hz touch sampling rate.

The device is powered by Snapdragon 870 and offers 12% faster CPU and 14% faster GPU when compared with Snapdragon 865. It supports warp charge 65 that allows the device to get charged in just 15 minutes. It also comes with a quad-camera system sporting a 48 MP primary camera.

The OnePlus 9 Pro price in India is Rs.64,999 for the 8 + 128 GB variant and 12 + 256 GB variant is priced at Rs.69,999. The OnePlus 9 price in India is Rs.49,999 for the 8 + 128 GB variant while the 12 + 256 GB variant is priced at Rs.54,999. And finally the thrird member of the family, OnePlus 9R price in Inida is Rs.39,999 for 8 + 128 GB variant and 12 + 256 GB variant is priced at Rs.43,999.
