Which one is better Dell or Apple laptops?

Laptops are now an indispensable part of our lives. These fantastic devices bring together the power of computing and portability together, allowing us to reach places we couldn’t go in the past.

However, there are many laptops out there, and certain brands specialize in certain aspects of computing. In this article, we take a look at two such brands Dell and Apple.

So which is better?

As we all know, Apple is a brand that produces devices that set the benchmark for premium devices in terms of performance and aesthetics.
Their latest line of laptops featuring Apple’s M1 chipset has kicked up quite a storm.

The MacBook Air with the M1 chipset is light yet powerful enough to take on most of its competitors. It has a 13.3-inch LED-backlit display with IPS technology featuring a native screen resolution of 2560×1600 pixels.

The display produces vibrant colours with sharp imagery thanks to its 227PPI pixel density and True Tone technology.

The screen has 400 nits of brightness, making it easy to view content on the screen even under bright sunlight.

Under the hood, the Apple MacBook Air houses the company’s latest chipset, the M1. The new chipset comes in two variants, an 8-core CPU comprising 4 Performance cores and 4 Efficiency cores, an 8 core GPU, and a 16 core Neural Engine.

Another variant has nearly the same spec, except the GPU has 7-cores. The 4 efficiency cores of the CPU take care of the lighter tasks like browsing, spreadsheets etc., while the 4 performance cores take care of the heavier task load. Moreover, the CPU is 3.5 times faster than the previous generation.

The GPU is equally as powerful, with up to 5 times faster graphics processing capability. The M1 chip doesn’t run on conventional RAM. It has up to 16GB of Unified Memory that allows the system to access data from a single pool of high bandwidth low latency memory and share it between the CPU, GPU and the neural engine in the most efficient manner.

The 16-core neural engine with its mind-boggling ability to perform 11 trillion calculations per second is an absolute wonder. It can power workflows that were previously not possible to achieve.

The Machine Learning technologies on the M1 allow apps to gather data, build and run models based on the data collected to optimize performance. Machine learning assists you in a lot of other areas as well.

It can help do things like automatically interpret the natural language or detect and isolate specific elements like laughter from the sound. It can even identify faces or individuals in photos and videos.

Storage space is never a problem as the device comes with a 256GB SSD configurable up to 2TB. SSD’s have no moving parts, and hence read and write speed will be faster than your conventional HDD’s

On the other hand, Dell is also known for producing some of the most powerful computing devices! It has innovative products like 2 in 1 laptops that truly redefine functionality.

The Dell New Inspiron 5410 with the 11th Gen Intel Core i5 is one such product. A convertible 2 in 1 laptop can be used both as a regular laptop or as a tablet by just folding it.

The device features a 14-inch FHD True-life Touch Display surrounded by a Narrow Border. The device has a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 Pixels and features an Aluminium and Plastic Body.

The Dell New Inspiron 5410 features an 11th Generation Intel Core i5-1135G7 Processor that is perfect for multi-tasking. The processor was launched in the third quarter of 2020 and had a 10nm Super Fin lithography. It has 4 physical cores and 8 virtual cores thanks to Intel’s Hyper-Threading technology.

The device also has Intel’s Virtualisation Technology that allows various workloads to share a common set of resources. The device has a powerful Intel Iris Xe Integrated Graphics with shared graphics memory that enables you to run low powered games. We must note that Dell has not built this device to handle heavy graphic workloads.

It has 8GB of 3200MHz DDR4 split in two as 4GB and 4GB. The 3200MHz allows faster data transfer speeds. It also has a 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive, which allows for lightning-fast read and write speeds. This fast data transfer is possible because, unlike HDD’s with multiple mechanical moving parts, an SSD does not come with moving parts hence reducing the time for boot ups, shutdowns and recovery.

The central aspect of this device is its super sturdy hinges that allow you to convert this laptop to a tablet. Folding the screen backwards will enable you to change the device from laptop mode to tablet mode. Everything from the user interface to the orientation of the display changes when you change the device to Tablet mode.

The device has an Internal Titan Grey English International Keyboard. Moreover, the keyboard is a backlit one making the machine easy to use in the dark. They have designed the keys ergonomically with ample spacing between the keys, making the typing experience exceptional.

Overall there are advantages to using both these devices; The newer Apple MacBook Air does come with its M1 edition chipset built for performance. Dell, however, has an equal advantage in the area of usability. Dell can be used both as a laptop and a tablet by just folding it.

Prices vary as both these devices belong to a whole different segment. The Apple MacBook Air belongs to the premium segment while having performance, unlike other devices, while the Dell has multiple functionalities but at a much more affordable price.

Therefore, it all comes down to choice, and personal preference as everyone’s usage and requirement differ. Both Dell and Apple are brilliant in their respective rights.

If you would like to check out these devices, you can head over to the Official Poorvika Website. The Price of the Apple MacBook Air M1 in India starts from Rs.91,900. The Price of the Dell New Inspiron 5410 in India is Rs.70,990.
